Privacy, without the temporal distortion

Your time is yours.
So is your data.

WorldTime works without accounts or behavioural profiles. If you deliberately join “On this day…”, we store only the details needed to run it. This page explains that choice, browser storage, infrastructure data and what changes when advertising is enabled.

Newsletter

Opt-in only

Email and date of birth are saved only after explicit consent.

Web analytics

Not configured

Cloudflare’s privacy-first performance and traffic measurement.

Advertising

Not active

Ad code remains gated until publisher details and consent handling are ready.

01 · The short version

We calculate time, not personality profiles.

Time questions, conversions and the personal time calculation run in your browser. WorldTime does not ask for your name, create an account, sell a mailing list, store your time questions or save the calculator’s “days remaining” yardstick. Hosting and security still require Cloudflare to process ordinary network request data. Email and date of birth are stored only when you separately ask to join the newsletter.

02 · What stays in your browser

Local means local.

Your browser’s timezone is read using standard browser APIs so answers can be expressed in your local time. It is not GPS and is not sent to a WorldTime database.

If you choose Use my location on the astronomy page, your browser asks for permission. The coordinates are used on that device to calculate Sun and Moon times and are not transmitted to WorldTime.

Your Paper, Dark or Auto theme preference is stored in local storage under worldtime:theme. It remains until you change it or clear browser storage.

03 · Cloudflare and operational logs

Someone has to deliver the page.

WorldTime is hosted on Cloudflare Workers. Cloudflare processes connection and request information—such as IP address, browser details, requested URL, response status and approximate network location—to deliver, secure and troubleshoot the service.

Worker invocation logs and aggregate metrics are retained according to the Cloudflare plan and account settings. WorldTime does not add names, email addresses or user IDs to those logs.

If Cloudflare Web Analytics is active, its performance beacon measures page views and loading performance. Cloudflare describes this product as privacy-first and says it does not collect or use visitors’ personal data or track people across customer sites.

04 · “On this day…” newsletter and D1

A mailing list, not a time machine dossier.

If you enter an email address and date of birth, tick the consent box and submit the form, WorldTime stores the email address, date of birth, subscription status, consent version and timestamps in a Cloudflare D1 database. It also creates a random unsubscribe token. The form is restricted to people aged 18 or over.

The date of birth lets future editions connect your date with historical events, anniversaries and astronomical context. It is not used to predict death, health, creditworthiness, insurance risk or anything else that would make a whimsical clock website alarmingly powerful.

Newsletter records are kept while a subscription is active. If you unsubscribe, the record is marked unsubscribed so it is not accidentally re-mailed; you can ask for deletion by contacting us. WorldTime does not currently share or sell this list, and the email delivery system will be documented here before the first edition is sent.

05 · Advertising and consent

Ads are conditional, not sneaky.

WorldTime is prepared to use Google AdSense on substantive guide and converter pages. It does not place ads on error, privacy or other low-value utility pages.

When advertising is activated, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies, local storage, device information and activity data to deliver and measure ads, prevent fraud, limit repetition and—where you consent—personalise advertising.

For visitors in the EEA, United Kingdom and Switzerland, advertising will only be activated after a Google-certified consent management platform is configured. The consent message will provide choices to consent, decline or manage purposes. Your choice may itself be saved so it does not ask on every page.

06 · Cookie and storage register

The small-print inventory.

07 · Your choices

You retain the controls.

  • Decline optional advertising purposes in the consent message without losing access to WorldTime.
  • Use your browser settings to block or delete cookies and local storage.
  • Deny geolocation permission; only the local sky calculations require it.
  • Use Google’s ad controls to manage personalisation associated with Google services.
  • Unsubscribe from “On this day…” using the link in an edition, or email us to request access, correction or deletion.

08 · Contact and changes

Questions are allowed. Even awkward ones.

For privacy questions or requests, email privacy@universaltime.app. This notice will be updated when the service, advertising partners or data practices materially change. WorldTime is a general-audience service; the newsletter form rejects subscriptions from people under 18.
